A school which had to be evacuated during Storm Éowyn on Friday will remain closed at the start of the new week. Students and staff at Egglescliffe School, in Eaglescliffe, Teesside, were told to leave the building after high winds brought down scaffolding.

Two schools will be closed tomorrow (January 27) after damage from Storm Éowyn. St Benedict's Catholic High School in Whitehaven said the building, which is also home to Mayfield School, sustained damage to its roof and has to be inspected before it can be deemed safe for students and staff to return.

Several schools and nurseries will remain closed next week due to Storm Eowyn damage. Hillhead Primary School and Early Years Centre Closure will be closed on Monday, January 27 due to significant damage to the school's roof.
