Tyreek Hill made waves at the end of the Miami Dolphins season when he essentially alluded to playing his last game with the franchise, saying he's going to "open that door" and that he's "out." Hill did not directly ask for a trade at that moment,

Miami’s star wide receiver finally offered an explanation as to why he lashed out the way he did after the Dolphins’ final game of the 2024 season.

Hill is guaranteed $27.6 million this upcoming season. If the Dolphins trade him, Miami would carry a $28.3 million 2025 dead money cap hit if he’s traded before June 1 and a $12.7 million dead money 2025 cap hit if he’s traded after June 1.

The Dolphins ended 2024 with an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since acquiring Hill from the Chiefs in a March 2022 trade. Hill pulled himself from Miami's regular-season finale loss at the Jets in the second half when it became apparent the Dolphins wouldn't make the playoffs.

Dolphins GM Chris Grier told reporters soon after the season ended that Hill — who is signed through 2026 — didn’t request a trade. The player’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, then said on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he believed Hill was still “committed” to the Dolphins.
